How to Save Time

We all want more time in the day. There never seems to be enough for everything that we want to get done. But the fact is, we waste a lot more time than we are aware of. It is just that we do not make the best use of our time.
By keeping better track of how we use our time, and cutting out waste we can find more time to get things done. Here are few ways to find that time.
1. Keep a record of how you spend your time.
Record how you spend each minute of your day. This can be time consuming, but you don’t have to do it forever. Just about a week will do. Keep track of all your activities at work and at home – time spent looking at email and other online activities, time in meetings, time at home watching TV or surfing the Internet, time spent cleaning, cook and eating and exercising.
When you do this, you will be surprised at how much time you actually do waste during the day. Think about what you should be doing but are not, and start doing it.
2. Cut down on time spent watching.
How much time are you spending watching shows on your computer or on TV? Probably more than you would like to admit. Here is a great place to find time for other more productive pursuits.
3. Get organized
We spend a lot of time looking for stuff. That is time wasted. If you are more organized, you know where everything is at. Take the time to get organized. At work, clear the clutter in your workspace. When you get to work in the morning, take a few minutes to put a to-do list together.
4. Look for time savers around the house.
For example, if you make several meals at once in the beginning of the week, you won’t have to take the time to do it later.
5. Know when to say no
If you have a friend who calls and just wants to chat, there is nothing wrong with rescheduling the conversation for a later time if you have something you need to do.
6. Prepare for tomorrow tonight.
At the end of the day, take some time to plan out what you are going to do the next day. There are several reasons for this. One, the work you did that day is still fresh in your mind, so you can better plan what you need to do next. Two, it puts your mind at ease to know that you have already mapped out what you need to do, so you will get a better night’s sleep. Three, you can hit the ground running in the morning.
