Opti Staffing Group has been providing tailored employment solutions for our clients and candidates for over twenty years, and it all started in Anchorage, Alaska!
This beautiful city is more than a base of operations for us; it’s where our story began, it’s home. Anchorage is Alaska’s largest city, boasting a total 41 percent of the state’s inhabitants, and our offices proudly serve the fastest growing segment of that population. More than just snow and moose, this vibrant northern borough features amenities and opportunities aplenty for those who call it home.
What Does Anchorage Have To Offer In Terms of Entertainment?
The denizens of Anchorage work hard, and at the end of the day you’ll be happy to learn that the city’s recreational options are many and varied. Café’s, spas, and salons await those searching for a bit of service and pampering in their off-hours. Look into classes on everything from weaving to wine tasting at local businesses and schools if you’re ready to pick up a new skill. Whether you’re looking for a quick bite, or a luxurious night, the city’s food scene is prolific and renowned. Time to let your hair down? Check out Anchorage’s scintillating nightlife. Clubs, music venues, and cinemas abound and are sure to satisfy your need to kick up those heels at the end of a long week.
Anchorage Get Your Exploring Nature Faster
Perhaps you prefer something a bit more removed from the hustle and bustle? Well, I’ve got great news for you: YOU’RE IN ALASKA! The state is world famous for its stunning vistas and wild spaces. It boasts the second highest percentage of national parks in the country and is home to the nation’s highest peak, Denali. Alaska has long been the home of explorers and pioneers and you’ll find no end of amenities for those with the spirit of adventure.
What About Places To Live?
Of course, recreation doesn’t begin to fully capture the experience of living somewhere. There are practical issues to discuss, like cost of living. While Anchorage breaks higher than the national average, compensation tends to be greater, with a minimum wage $3 above the federal standard and median annual income reported at approximately $5,000 higher than the national median. Inflated costs are driven by the necessity of importing many goods from the lower 48 states and the infrastructure necessary for providing utilities in a harsher climate. Further good news is that Alaska’s state government offers many incentives and programs to its citizens to help defray these costs.
What Jobs Are Available in Anchorage, Alaska?
Now, let’s talk business: what’s the job market like? I’ve got good news and less-good news. First the less-good news: according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, Anchorage has experienced a contraction in the job market across most industries with notable exceptions in the Business Services, Information, and Manufacturing fields. The good news is that the percentages of decline are lower than the national average and are proportionate to the difficulties faced by the employment market of the entire nation over the past year. This, I am thrilled to say, is where Opti comes in.
Over our twenty years in the heart of Anchorage, we have cultivated roots in the professional community that give us greater insight into the employment needs of businesses in all three of the industries mentioned above! Throughout the rigors of the employment crisis faced by the city we call home, we have continued to find satisfying and secure employment for members of our community.
